The course aims Training students for the use of some programs used in physics:
Mathematica and the basics of work in LaTeX, which is the world standard for the preparation and processing of texts when it comes to professional and scientific publications.
The outcome of the course Ability to work with Mathematica and LaTeX software.
Contents of the course
Theoretical study Mathematica:
1. Introduction to the program: basic computational operations, algebraic expressions and work with them, basic function.
2. Define new functions, graphically display functions in 2D and 3D, capture received images in the desired format.
3. Systems of equations, differentiation, integrals, solving of a system of differential equations.
4. Working with lists, vectors, matrices, basic operations with matrices, and solving an eigenproblem.
5. Displaying numerical data and their processing: comparison with other programs. Preservation of the data obtained and the possibility of their further processing in other programs.
6. Programming in the
Mathematica program and application in solving problems from various fields of physics.
LаTеX:
7. Getting to know the basics and using editor for LаTеX.
8. Creating different types of documents.
9. Additional packages for special purposes. Database of existing packages.
10. Pictures, tables, references and citations of articles in the text.
11.  Equations and mathematical symbols.
12. Create images in EPS format, as well as PS and PDF documents from the
LaTeX editor.
13. The advantage
of working in LaTeX in relation to commercial word processing programs. Packages that use the most famous publishers of the journal in physics.
Practical classes (exercises, DON, study research) Exercises in a computer laboratory: practical classes are followed by a lecture program, elaboration of techniques processed in lectures, homework assignments, independent student work on a computer.
