|
Aims of the course |
Understand
the variability of the Sun's activity and its interaction with the
atmosphere, which will help to differentiate the natural and anthropogenic
impacts on the climate. |
|
|
Learning outcomes |
Adopt
new knowledge about the impact of Sun's activity on the weather and the
climate on Earth. |

|
Contents of the course |
|
|
Lectures |
1.
Measuring and modeling of the total and spectral solar irradiance. 2.
Physical causes of variability of irradiance. 3. Proxy data. 4. Number of
sunspot and their variation on long time scales. 5. Maunder minimum. 6. How
much Sun changed from Maunder minimum until now? 7. Irradiance variability
during the Holocene. 8. Milankovic's cycles. 9. Clouds and solar activity.
10. Impact of solar variability on the climate. 11. Dynamical effects in the
stratosphere. 12. Solar activity and regional climate variations. 13. Solar
magnetism. 14. Review of recent research. |
|
|
Examples/ practical classes |
Lectures
were followed by practical exercises of students with an assistant. Exercises
include: working with data obtained from meteorological observations and from
observation of solar activity, analysis of these data, their comparison and
search for correlations. |
